Solving the High Cost of OTT Subscriptions with Vstreamhd

During my college years, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, I realized a major problem: OTT subscriptions were too expensive for students. As a result, many resorted to either pirating content or using a relative’s or friend’s account.

While analyzing subscription models, I noticed that most streaming platforms, like Netflix, allowed multiple profiles—Netflix, for instance, permitted five profiles and up to four simultaneous streams. This gave me an idea:

What if there was a SaaS platform that enabled people to form secure sharing groups and split subscription costs?

This led to the creation of Vstreamhd, a service that allowed users to share access to their OTT accounts through password or OTP authentication. The platform automated cost-splitting based on the total number of concurrent users allowed by the subscription.

For example, if an OTT platform charges ₹1000 per month and allows 4 simultaneous streams, Vstreamhd would divide the cost equally among users:

• Each member would pay ₹250 instead of ₹1000, saving 75% on their subscription cost.
• The admin and all members contribute equally, ensuring a fair and transparent system.

This solution made premium streaming services affordable, secure, and accessible for thousands of users, eliminating the need for piracy or dependency on personal connections.

I stopped scaling Vstreamhd after complaince issue from Payu and facebook.
